Can You Tell Us A Little Bit About Yourself?
My name is Oyedeji Fasehun, a husband and father.
I immigrated from Nigeria, and I currently live in Moncton, NB where I work as a Realtor with Royal LePage Atlantic. I am also an entrepreneur in the Real Estate sector. While in Nigeria, I was the MD of a Real Estate company involved in building design, construction, project management and sales.
How Was Your Growing Up Like?
Growing up was fantastic with my four brothers and the whole community lived as one. The community was relatively safe, and we could sleep almost anywhere and our neighbors felt comfortable with us with no worries. I particularly enjoyed the time spent with my parents and grandmother where I learnt so many life-saving skills and core values.
Give us one word that best describes you. Dynamic – ability to adapt to change.
Why Real Estate? Does your business have a story to tell that you would like to share with us?
Growing up, I always had a passion for property business. I spent so much time drawing sketches of my dream buildings and I always felt at peace doing this. Coming to Canada has made me put my passion and skills to use in putting smiles on my clients’ faces by getting them their dream homes.
How did you start your business?
I took a course at NBCC, then completed the Salesperson’s Pre-Licensing Education Course and passed the exam. Joined Royal LePage Atlantic, became a member of NBREA and got licensed as a Realtor in NB by the Financial and Consumer Services Commission.
What is Your management background and can you share some challenging moment?
I have worked as a Marketing Manager for a software company and managed teams of project managers, surveyors, architects etc, for a Construction company while working in Nigeria. My most challenging moment on the job is convincing my clients that the houses they’ve fallen in love with, would not meet their needs.
Who are your competitors and can you share some of the secrets that put you at a competitive advantage?
All other licensed Realtors are my competitors. My competitive advantage is that I go the extra mile to satisfy my clients.
Tell us what you like and dislike about your current job?
I love seeing the joy on my clients’ faces after a successful closing and I really love viewing houses. I dislike being in a multiple offer situation i.e., when there are too many people bidding for the same property. I also do not like the unpredictable and rising property cost.
What are your personal goals and where do you see yourself in five or ten years?
My personal goal is to receive the Platinum Award (of Royal LePage Atlantic) continuously. Platinum Award is given to Realtors who have made $xxx during the financial year, to be the Go-To Realtor for immigrants in the Greater Moncton area and a property investor.
What are your 3 biggest accomplishments?
Getting Gold Award at work irrespective of COVID19 constraints, executing my first successful commercial property sales and assisting a large percentage of migrants to become happy property owners.
Which CEOs inspires you?
Elon Musk (Tesla) is an inspiration for being visionary; Jeff Bezos (while no longer the CEO of Amazon) for his power of consolidation and Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) for being a transformational leader and investor.
How do you see the real estate business in the next two years?
It will continue to be a strong seller market i.e., sellers will make some profit from the high property cost, fewer houses than
buyers.
How would you go about improving on the things the company could do better?
Better use of technology to assist our clients, for example – digital open houses using Artificial intelligence, data gathering and analytics to improve search, and virtual staging solutions to decorate homes with objects to help buyers imagine what a property would look like after purchase. A special package to assist new immigrants in settling into the province would be great also.
In your view, what risks do real estate face as a sector?
I think one of the major risks is job security as realtors live on commission and with the market volatility, some sellers prefer to sell directly to the buyers. Another risk is when there are more agents than available houses which can make things difficult.

What advice would you give to anyone looking forward to purchasing a property?
It is important for clients to maintain a good credit score (700 above), determine how much you can afford, decide on the area you want to settle in and the type of property, get prequalified by the bank or mortgage broker, keep your deposit for a minimum of 3 months, know the associated costs that come with property purchase e.g. land transfer fees, property inspection, lawyer’s fees, mortgage insurance, home and property insurance etc. Do not be “house poor” let me help you through the process.
How do you relax?
I love being with my family, watching films, cooking etc. I also love traveling and visiting new places and going out with my friends when possible.
What advice do you have for young people in your sector?
Ensure you really love real estate business and helping people achieve their dreams. Be resilient and determined; do not be discouraged by deals or sales that fall through. It’s not an easy field but a satisfying and profitable one. Determination is key, so keep pushing.
How do you balance Business, Ministry and Family Life as A Busy Man?
Being a realtor helps me manage my time properly and affords me the opportunity to spend time with my family, church and friends.
